Portfolio Highlights
- In partnership with lead agency the Shelton Group, Mary Beth West Consulting helped lead a public awareness and community outreach campaign in 2008 to encourage the 1.1 million customers of Vectren Energy, based in Evansville, Ind., to embrace energy efficiency in their homes and businesses throughout the company’s Indiana service area.
The campaign involved an expansive media relations and community outreach effort to inform both consumers and businesses about the value of energy efficiency and to persuade customers to take action by participating in energy-efficiency measures, such as rebate programs and conservation.
Results of the overarching campaign included achieving rebate program participation at 34 percent or more above goals (depending on type of rebate program), increasing users of online information tools by 9 percent above goal, and increasing message recall from 46 percent to 68 percent – with nearly two-thirds of customers recalling (unaided) some specific messages relative to either conservation tips or specific rebates included in the program.
- Foothills Community Development Corporation (FCDC) based in Maryville, Tenn., is an affordable housing non-profit organization and a Blount County Habitat for Humanity partner.
FCDC engaged Mary Beth West Consulting to help the agency rebrand its identity, create a robust website that would enhance the organization’s credibility within the local community, implement a media relations effort to expand community awareness of the agency and its existing inventory of affordable housing stock, and develop outreach strategies to engage key referral sources in the community to build FCDC’s pipeline of qualified families seeking a home.
Results of the campaign have included a documented increase in housing applications by Blount County families; print, broadcast and online media coverage spotlighting FCDC housing developments and creation of an informative, engaging web site that has sparked interest by other area community housing development organizations in the agency’s services.
